Ingredients
For 6 people:
- 6 beautiful apples (Golden or Granny Smith)
- 150g of sugar
- 100g of salted butter
- 1 shortcrust pastry
- 1 vanilla pod (optional)
- A bit of lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Peel the apples, remove the cores, and cut them into quarters. Drizzle with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- In a pan, melt the butter with the sugar over medium heat until you achieve a golden caramel.
- Add the apple quarters to the caramel and cook for about 10 minutes, gently turning them to coat well.
- If using the vanilla pod, split it open and add the seeds to the apple mixture.
- Once the apples are caramelized, arrange them tightly in a tart pan. Cover with the shortcrust pastry, tucking the edges inside the pan.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the pastry is golden.
- Remove the tart from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Carefully invert it onto a serving plate.
- Serve warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of crème fraîche.
